300 sailors from 8 nations will take part in the events organised by Club Nautico Arzachena in Cannigione

With 51 crews already enrolled is a record of subscription for the 2012 J24 National and European Championship hosted by Club Nautico Arzachena. The two importants events will take place, respectively, from 25th at May 29th and from May 30th at June 3rd in Cannigione in the Arzachena Gulf, supported by Regione Autonoma della Sardegna, Provincia Olbia Tempio, Comune di Arzachena and many sponsors. Thanks to their help, will be another success for the organizing authority, just in the year of his 40th anniversary.

The North Sardinia is one of the favourite racing area for sailors from all over the world, with the good weather, great sea conditions and the spectacular scenery included between the Arzachena Gulf and the La Maddalena arcipelago. by looking at the number of entrants in the latest editions we can prove it: in 2006 in England were 42, in 2007 in Germany 43, in 2008 in Hungary 35, in 2009 in Greece 39, in 2010 in Netherlands 30 and in 2011 in Ireland 42.

The trend of positive growth for all Club nautico Arzachena events is the result of costant work and effort through the years. One of the most important moment was in 2008, when the club hosted the successful appointment of J24 National and World Championships. Therefore, many crews decided to return, others are excited to live this new experience in Cannigione. They are from 8 countries: 13 are German, 2 are Hungarian, 2 Greek, 2 from Monaco, 1 Swedish, 1 American and 1 Brazilian. This last one, Bruschetta, is the world champion with the helmsman Mauricio Santa Cruz. There will also take part at the challenge in Cannigione the 2011 Italian champion, the crew La Superba, from Marina Militare Italiana.

"We really appreciate the large participation of competitors, especially in this difficult moment wich strikes us all due at the well known economics crisis" says Tonino Chessa, chairman of the organizing committee, "we feared for the heavy costs of travel necessary to reach Sardinia. Fortunately, some shipping companies signed some agreements with us to grant the best price for our sailors and their families. This first result encourages us to continue to believe in ambitious aim like this".

The preliminary registration of participants, the measurement and many social events scheduled will be held in the Sailing village in front of Cannigione beach (near Riva Azzurra parc). The practical race of the Italian Championship starts on May 25th from the port of Cannigione. The opening ceremony, reserved for participants and guests, will be held Saturday, May 26 at 20:00 at the Hotel Cala di Falco of the Delphina Group.
