CURIOSITY

In the autumn of 1976, in a calm district in the North side of United States of America, was born the project of the designer Rod Johnstone, eager seasoned sailing racer, wich in an only 24 feet long garage built the boat that will became the world's most popular one-design keelboat.
Most of 5.200 hulls built from 1977 to nowadays

The name is "J" because the name of 4 of the first 5 owners and fans of this prototype was "John" !!

The success was immediate and for his low buying and management cost the J24 obtained a very large diffusion and a big draught, and became a very good instrument for intense and funny sailing races in all world's sea.

Usually a new, easy transportable and fast boat is much expansive, but is'nt so for J24 because with less then 30.000 euros in one year you can have a new hull all sails included.

Cause of the materials quality and contruction technique, often old but well-prepared boats can be faster then some new hulls.

J24 is considered one of the most easy to handle sailing boats, cause of is speed and sensibility at rudder trims.

A competent and harmonized crew is important to win a sailing race, but sailing with J24 is however an unforgettable experience.
